Rift and44-PR-WO-StJames-RandQ-low Quartered White Oak

Baillie Lumber produces Rift sawn and Quarter sawn White Oak. Our standard is to package rift and quartered lumber together. However, separate sorts can be considered from time to time.

Rift sawn White Oak cut at a slight angle to the radius of the log. This technique creates boards with a tight straight grain which have little to no flecking. This gives the lumber a very uniformed appearance.

Quartersawn White Oak, however, can have significant figure, or flecking within it. When logs are sawn radially from the center it can expose the medullary rays of the timber giving it a wonderful unique look.

Our rift & quartered White Oak is commonly used in special architectural millwork applications, custom furniture and hardwood flooring.
