Consider Hickory

Hickory is a strong and durable North American hardwood. It has been used in manufacturing for centuries in a variety of applications.

consider hickoryHickory's strength and density make it an ideal choice for many applications. One of the most common uses for hickory is tool handles.  We regularly receive inquiries for 6/4” hickory across all hardwood lumber grades such as FAS, 1 common and 2 common from manufacturers of tool handles. Sometimes, customers will ask for 5/4” as well depending on their specific finished product specifications. And occasionally, tool handle manufacturers will prefer to just buy hickory logs from us so they can saw the wood themselves.

You will also find hickory commonly used for flooring applications because it is resistant to dents and scratches.  Plus, its natural color variation, commonly referred to as calico, adds visual interest to any space!

We find that hickory is also a popular species choice for furniture and cabinetry. Hickory's strength and durability make it a great choice for pieces that will see heavy use, such as dining room tables and chairs. Additionally, the natural color variation of hickory can add a unique touch to any piece of furniture or cabinetry.

So, are you considering using hickory in your product manufacturing? If so, contact us and find out if we can help you with supply. Our hardwood concentration yards from New York to the Carolina’s regularly have inventory available for prompt shipment.

We look forward to hearing from you!
