Zebrawood “Microberlinia brazzavillensis”"

Zebrano, or Zebrawood, probably one of my all-time favorite hardwoods. There is no denying it’s visual appeal. Flatsawn Zebrawood is not what we are looking for here, it’s the quartersawn that brings out the appearance of zebra looking stripes in the wood.

ZebrawoodHowever, there is not a lot of Zebrawood typically available in the market. But through our trusted sources we have access to air-dried material in 4/4” and 8/4” thickness.

It can be quite difficult to dry Zebrawood, so we always do this at our own kiln facility in Cove City, NC where we have much more control over that process. We dry 4/4” and 8/4” lumber, with the 8/4” being far harder to dry than 4/4” stock.

Zebrawood is often used for veneer, but also as cabinetry, furniture, doors, and paneling. Due to interlocking grain, the wood can be somewhat difficult to work with, but the finished product in this species is definitely worth it for any special project.
