In terms of coloration, the heartwood of Red Grandis ranges from pale pink to medium pink in color. While its sapwood, which is not always distinguishable, is a paler tone. It truly is a beautiful hardwood specie.
We are proud to be an authorized distributor of Red Grandis in 4/4”, 5/4”, 6/4” and 8/4” at our Cove City, NC facility. It is a true FAS/1F product. It is all 6”+ wider material, generally with widths up to 10-12” wide and an average of about 8” in most bundles.
In addition to the FAS/1F stock we carry, Red Grandis is also available at a lower cost in side boards, this is from the first cut into the log, so there is a good amount of sapwood in the product. This particular product would be very suitable for an interior products, either in it’s natural color or as a painted product. Scantlings are also available, either as a solid product or finger jointed, everything is made to order at the modern facility they have.
Red Grandis is readily available in 4/4, 5/4, 6/4 and 8/4 thicknesses and is now a hardwood lumber product that is used widely for cabinets, millwork, windows, doors and furniture.
For a while now, Red Grandis is known in the United States market as a consistent product because of its one species; one plantation; one mill production approach that also machines and finishes very well.
If you are considering using Red Grandis in one of your hardwood lumber products let us know! Baillie is proud to be an authorized distributor of Red Grandis from Urufor and would welcome the chance to discuss options with you regarding this or any of the other tropical hardwood lumber species you may need.
