Padouk "Pterocarpus soyauxii"

Padouk is a beautiful, red, African wood. Not to be confused with Padauk from Burma. The color when freshly machined is a deep, eye-catching and unique, bright red color.

In some areas, Padouk can be a pinkish color, so it’s important to be aware of where the lumber is from, as US customers are looking for the characteristic deep red color that Padouk offers. Padouk IMG 2737

Typically we see Padouk used in veneer, cabinets, flooring, musical instruments and other specialty projects due to its visual appeal, but it is also a great choice for inlay and accent work as it really stands out.

At our Cove City, NC facility we have 4/4” and 8/4” Padouk in stock. It is also important to note that both sizes were imported air-dried from Cameroon, and kiln-dried at our own facility to the correct moisture content.

Have any questions about Padouk or any of the other beautiful imported hardwood lumber species that we offer? Let us know, we are happy to help.
