Makore “Tieghemella heckelii”

Makore, also known as Mahogany Cherry or African Cherry, it truly looks more like Mahogany than anything else. Light to medium brown color, it’s softer than Sapele and African Mahogany and has a really nice and smooth finish to it.

All things considered, Makore is pretty easy to work with, and even glues and finishes well. You can often find it used with veneer, furniture, doors/windows, cabinets and any architectural wood application really. While Makore is not as popular as it was back in the 90’s, it is still a fantastic looking wood that is easy to work with and is certainly easy on the eyes.Makore

Currently, we only have inventory in for Makore in 8/4” thickness only. Have an interest in Makore or any of the other tropical species we offer? Let us know how we can help!
